Citi-Cash-Back-Card

– Discounts can amount to 20.88 % at Esso or Shell Stations

– 8% Discount at other stations

– 7.75 % Petrol rebate worldwide

– Minimum spend: S$888 per month

– Cashback for retail, grocery and dining spending worldwide.

– Cap: S$25 per category

– For spend below S$888, you still get a 0.25 % cashback, no cap

– Possible savings: Up to S$209 per year

– Annual fee: S$192.60 per year (S$96.30 per year for supplementary card); waived first year for principal card and up to 2 supplementary cards

– Annual interest rate: 28 %

– Requisite annual income: S$30,000 for Singaporeans, S$ 42,000 for non-Singaporeans

PROS: Offers one of the largest petrol discounts in Singapore. Huge discounts from Esso and Shell, but also offers savings at other stations worldwide.

CONS: High minimum spend and high annual fee.

DBS-Esso-Card

– Up to a 17 % discount at Esso stations

– When used at other petrol stations, it earns 1 Smiles point for every S$10. Smiles points can be used to claim free fuel (a S$30 voucher is 750 Smiles Points)

– Possible savings: Up to $492 per year

– Annual fee: $85.60 ($42.80 for supplementary card); waived first year

– Annual interest rate: 25.90 %

– Requisite annual income: S$30,000 for locals; S$45,000 for non-Singaporeans

PROS: Offers a considerable discount at Esso. No discounts at other stations, but gains Smiles points. Other spend can also be converted into Smiles Points. Automatic enrolment in Esso Smiles Rewards Program. Relatively low annual fee with a waived first year. Also offers an interest-free payment plan for road tax and motor insurance.

CONS: Discounts at Esso only.

HSBC-Visa-Platinum-Credit-Card

– Discounts can amount to 20.2 % at Shell and Caltex

– Minimum Spend: S$800 for all 3 months of a quarter

– Cashback rate: 3 % to 5 % on groceries, dining and selected bill payments.

– Cashback cap: S$120 for a S$800 minimum spend, or S$60 for a S$400 minimum spend (for all 3 months of a quarter).

– Possible savings: S$391 per year

– Annual fee: S$180; waived for the first two years. Following years will be waived, given a yearly minimum spend of S$12,500
